Is This Not Weird?

I was surfing on Youtube, and found this video about a Native-American crying because of pollution, and the guy who put it on Youtube has this blog. This video made me think of Adam Savage, who was in a tiolet paper commercial before he worked in movies or on Mythbusters. So, I looked that video up, and here is that link:

The Giver by Lois Lowry

I just finished reading the Giver, and I must say, the community is completely whacked. I mean, no snow? I don't care if it's practical or not, you can't live without the occasional snow. It's like living in a void, with no weather, or hills, or anything even remotely interesting. Come to think of it, there is no weather or hills or anything interesting. There's only about three books in every household, and that is just not right. Whoever thought that this super-controlled place was a good idea was obviously a politician in need of mental rehabilitation. It amazes me how people back and back and back could have thought that no feelings whatsoever was a good idea.

This book makes you think about what it would be like to live in a place where nothingness is pretty much dominant. The scary thing is, everything in this book is plausible. It can actually happen in the future. We could all be brainwashed into thinking it's a good idea to have everything subdued, when all we would be doing is preventing any of us from living at all. There are some good aspects of living in a world like Jonas' though. There would be no famine, and everyone would have a job. So you decide: is it worth it?
